Frequently Asked Questions: University Testing

Cell phones are not allowed at the testing station.  Please make the appropriate arrangements for storing cell phones.  

How can a copy of my placement scores be obtained?
To obtain an unofficial copy of your placement scores, log into your myipfw account at my.ipfw.edu.  Select the enrollment tab and the Orientation and Placement information link. Students can print placement scores from the placement testing website. Click on “print your placement information”.  If an official copy of placement scores is needed, please visit the Testing Services office located in Kettler Hall, Room 232. A photo id is required for an official copy. Testing Services will mail the placement scores. A letter must be provided by the student stating full name, date of birth, school ID number if known and a signature.  The letter can be mailed to the Testing Services office at 2101 E. Coliseum Blvd., Kettler Hall, Room 232, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 or by faxing the letter to 260-481-4155.

How can I get a copy of my SAT/ACT scores?
To receive a copy of SAT/ACT scores, please contact or visit the College Board website for more information.

What is the placement test retake policy?
Students are allowed to complete the Accuplacer placement test twice in a two year period. Students receiving a letter grade for completing a course are not eligible for placement testing.  Students enrolled in a course that is in progress, may retest only during the first week of semester classes.  The most recent placement exam score will be accepted and not the previous or current score combined. The guided writing self placement may be completed as many times as necessary. The Foreign language placement tests may be retaken once.

What time should students arrive for their appointment?
Testing Services asks that students arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment time. A photo id is required upon check in. Students arriving late will be asked to reschedule their testing appointment.

Where should I park?
Please see parking for more information. Testing Services does not recommend parking in a metered area for  your testing appointments.

When to schedule an appointment?
Students needing to complete placement testing may schedule their exams Monday - Saturday throughout the year with the exception of IPFW semester finals week.  Placement testing must be completed 24 hours prior to IPFW New Student Orientation or before meeting with an advisor. Students enrolled in an Online Education course should plan to schedule exams during the first two weeks of classes. Timeslots on Friday and Saturday are the most popular and fill quickly.

What are acceptable forms of a photo ID?
Acceptable forms of a photo ID include State Driver's License, State ID, Military ID, Passport, IPFW Mastodon ID, Purdue University ID, Indiana University ID and High School ID's. The name on your ID must match the name on the class roster or test. Students needing to obtain an IPFW Mastodon ID can report to Walb Student Union.
