The University Police office is located in the Support Services Building (west of Liberal Arts Building) and is staffed 24-hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
The Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne Police Department is staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The staff consists of eighteen police officers, two safety officers, and five dispatchers/clerks.
Under state law, police officers possess full police powers including the powers of arrest (IC-20-12-3.5) on all property owned or occupied by the university. University Police works closely with local law enforcement agencies and solicits information on criminal activity of students at off campus locations. Through agreement with the city of Fort Wayne, University Police has been authorized secondary jurisdiction throughout the city.
