Commencement Ceremony

Faculty and Administrator R.S.V.P.

To attend Commencement, R.S.V.P. and order regalia by Thursday, March 30th. This R.S.V.P. ensures that:

  • Parking: A parking permit is reserved for you (to be delivered to your campus address the first week of May in a specially marked envelope)
  • A seat on the arena floor with other faculty is reserved for you
  • Regalia: Any needed rental regalia is ordered for you
  • See payment, deadlines, and late fee information below
  • Instructions: Commencement instructions are sent (first week of May)

After 12:30 p.m., March 31st, email Kelly Shanks to R.S.V.P. 


Caps, gowns, and hoods are worn at Commencement. Arrange for rental apparel by marking the needed pieces in the faculty R.S.V.P. (above) by Thursday, March 30th. The IPFW Bookstore will contact you to confirm your order. If bookstore staff don't already know your size, degree, and home institution, they will email or call to you.

Payments and Deadlines

Payment responsibility:

  • Caps and Gowns: Academic Ceremonies will pay for caps and gowns
  • Hoods: Individual faculty members or their departments will pay for hoods
  • Late Fees:  Individual faculty members or their departments will pay for late fees

Hood pricing (not including tax):

  • Bachelor's: $30
  • Master's: $34
  • Doctoral:  $38

Deadlines and late fees:

  • March 30th: Deadline to order with no late fee
  • April 13th: Deadline to order with late fee of $15.95
  • After 13th: Late fee increases and apparel availability decreases

Apparel Delivery

You may claim your rental apparel at the bookstore during the week prior to Commencement. Bookstore personnel will collect rented apparel immediately following the ceremony in the faculty and administrator robing area.

Note: Black tassels are supplied to faculty and staff with less than a doctoral degree and old gold tassels to those with a doctoral degree. You may order a tassel in your discipline's color at your own cost at the bookstore.

Parking and Commencement Instructions

The first week of May, ceremonies will send via campus mail a specially marked envelope containing a parking permit, attendance instructions, and a map of the Coliseum.

Ceremonies must pay for the parking permits provided to faculty and staff. If your plans change and you are no longer able to attend, please email and return the parking permit by May 5 to Kettler 157.  We are not charged for any permits returned to the Coliseum on May 8.
