2014 Featured Faculty Introduced—Lecture Series Announced

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Four Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) faculty members were formally introduced today as the 2014 IPFW Featured Faculty. Chancellor Vicky L. Carwein congratulated each of the members as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Jeff Anderson introduced them and spoke about their specific research projects.

The 2014 Featured Faculty are:

  • Jeff Casazza, associate professor of theatre
  • George Mourad, professor of biology
  • Ahmed Mustafa, associate professor of biology
  • Erik S. Ohlander, associate professor of religious studies

As part of their duties, each will present a lecture highlighting their research. The lecture series begins the second Wednesday in February and continues through the first Wednesday in March. Each lecture takes place from noon to 1 p.m. in the Helmke Library Learning Commons. They are free and open to the public and a light lunch will be provided.

The lecture dates and topics are:

  • February 12: “Sufism and Sociability: Poetry as Pedagogy in a Medieval Persian Lyric,” presented by Erik S. Ohlander
  • February 19: “Taking Action against Stress,” presented by Ahmed Mustafa
  • February 26: “Bridging the Gap between Basic Plant Research and Applied Agriculture,” presented by George Mourad
  • March 5: “A Return to Childhood: How We Speak and Why We Lose Our Voices,” presented by Jeff Casazza
