FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Most women know what it’s like to want to lose that five, ten, or twenty pounds of extra weight that just won’t go away. How many know what it’s like to want to lose more than a hundred pounds? And of those, how many are mothers and daughters?
Marci and Courtney Crozier know exactly what it’s like and they’re bringing their story, “The Journey,” to the morning session of Tapestry: A Day for You, Friday, April 26, at the Memorial Coliseum. Mom Marci and daughter Courtney are former contestants on the NBC reality TV series The Biggest Loser, Season 11.
Marci originally auditioned for The Biggest Loser to help her daughter Courtney, but realized along the way that she needed to get healthy, too, after tipping the scales at nearly 240 pounds. Courtney once weighed over 430 pounds. On her 21st birthday, she realized she couldn’t have the life she wanted as an obese person. She tried out twice for The Biggest Loser and was turned down both times. After the second rejection, she devised her own weight loss plan, worked hard, and succeeded in losing 122 pounds on her own.
As a result of her positive attitude and her personal weight loss success, she tried out again and both she and her mother were cast in Season 11 of The Biggest Loser. At the end of their Biggest Loser journey, Courtney had lost over 220 pounds and Marci was the first woman in the show’s history to reach her goal weight while still at the Biggest Loser Ranch.
