Fort Wayne, Ind.—The Alumni Relations office at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) welcomes Christopher Riley as its new assistant director.

"We are increasing alumni association membership, growing class reunions, and creating new ways for our alumni to engage with each other and the university through affinity groups," said Wendy Kobler, vice chancellor for advancement. "Christopher will be at the center of these efforts. His work will touch over 55,000 alumni across the United States and abroad, including the 20,000 alumni in Allen County alone."

"My heart is in working with our alumni and students," said Riley. "This is a great opportunity to do what I love and to continue making a difference at IPFW."

Riley formerly worked in IPFW's Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, where he was the assistant director. He coordinated cultural programs and academic success initiatives that support diverse students and those pursuing CTE/STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering and Mathematics) majors. He was also the advisor of the Black Collegian Caucus and Hispanos Unidos. Prior to coming to IPFW, he worked at Wilberforce University and Central State University, both in Wilberforce, Ohio. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Communications from Wilberforce University and is currently finishing a Master of Liberal Studies at IPFW.

"Christopher’s passion for IPFW students and graduates is evident. He is bursting with new ideas," said Mike Kanning, president of the IPFW Alumni Association board of directors. "We’re excited to have him at the helm of expanding IPFW Alumni engagement."

In his free time, Riley is a member of the ministerial staff of the Gomez Temple AME Church in Fort Wayne and is the weekend manager of WQSW-LP 100.5. He hosts a weekly talk show that profiles youth and young adult mentors and promotes upcoming events in northeast Indiana. He is married to De'Breia Nichelle Williams-Riley and they are the proud parents of one son, Naashon Elijah Wade, and a daughter, Deborah Ann Nichelle.

Riley started his position on June 24.
