FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) begins celebrations for its 2012 Homecoming Monday, November 26, and concludes the week with the Men’s Basketball game against Miami of Ohio, Saturday, December 1, at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Coliseum.
The week kicks off with a Chicken Wing Eating challenge for students Monday, November 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Walb Student Union Ballroom.
Tuesday, November 27, features the preliminary rounds in the Cupcake Eating contest, which is open to students, staff, and faculty, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Walb Student Union Ballroom. At 6 p.m., the Students take on the Staff in a Charity Basketball Game at the Gates Center; admission is $3.
Wednesday, November 28, there is a Dodgeball Tournament from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Fieldhouse.
Thursday, November 29’s activities begin with a Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Science Mall. Students can test their design skills in the Paper Airplane Contest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Stomping Grounds in the lower level of Walb Student Union. The day wraps up at 11:59 p.m. at Student Housing, where the Polar Plunge and Midnight Run will begin.
Friday, November 30, the fun begins at noon in the gymnasium in Gates Center and the Fieldhouse, with a pep Rally, preliminary rounds in Hot Shots, a Chuck-a-Don contest, and a Student Organization Fair.
Saturday, December 1, wraps up the week with the Athletics Hall of Fame Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Alumni Center. The Homecoming Celebration, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Expo II at the Coliseum, is open to all students, staff, faculty, alumni, and their guests and is free of charge. It will feature tailgate-style food, a cash bar, and the Cupcake Eating Contest finals. At 7 p.m. the Men’s Basketball team takes on the Red Hawks of Miami of Ohio. The Homecoming King and Queen and their Court will be announced at halftime.
