The Indiana University Purdue University-Fort Wayne (IPFW) Philosophy Department is an active, growing department. We are proud to offer courses that appeal to a wide range of interests within the disciplines of Analytic Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Applied Ethics.
The Philosophy Department faculty and staff are committed to helping students succeed. In addition to supporting our declared majors and minors, we welcome dual-degree students as well as students who only have room in their schedules for a few philosophy-related classes. Many of our courses are approved for General Education Credit which helps introduce students to this interesting and thought-provoking field.
We are also home to the IPFW Human Rights Institute (HRI) within the Center for Applied Ethics. The HRI is an interdisciplinary collaboration between social and political philosophy, education, and the social sciences. The Institute offers a Summer Travel Abroad Program in collaboration with the René Cassin International Institute of Human Rights on the Campus of the University of Strasbourg, France.
