Dr. Gurgur joined Doermer School of Business in Fall 2009. Her research and teaching activities are in decision sciences, stochastic modeling of production and service systems, supply chain management, the interface of operations, finance and risk assessment. She received her Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from Rutgers University. She holds an M.S. in management science and operations research from Warwick Business School, England, and an M.S. in applied and mathematical statistics from Rutgers University.
Dr. Gurgur worked as a production engineer at General Dynamics and has consulting experience with companies such as Merrill Lynch, Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Xcel Energy, Platts Analytics (an energy information company) and American Electric Power.
She is a recipient of US Army Research Office grant. Her work has been published in leading-scholar journals such as Annals of Operations Research, IIE Transactions, Naval Research Logistics, Interfaces, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Renewable Energy, The Engineering Economist, International Journal of Applied Decision Sciences, International Journal of Applied Management Science and International Journal of Services, Economics and Management.
Dr. Gurgur is a member of various professional organizations including, The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, Production and Operation Management Society and Sloan Industry Studies Association.
Before joining IPFW, Dr. Gurgur taught at Division of Economics and Business at Colorado School of Mines. She was the recipient of Excellence in Teaching and Outstanding Faculty Awards. In her teaching at IPFW, she emphasizes critical thinking, logic building and managerial problem solving skills with rigorous business software implementation.
The courses she teaches at IPFW, include, Business Simulation, Data Analysis and Management Science, Operations Management and Supply Chain Management.
