Scholarships

The College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) offers awards and scholarships to students majoring in fine arts, music, theatre and visual communication and design. Awards may include grants, fee remission or work-study assistance. As recipients are selected by their respective departments, applicants should contact their department directly for information.

IPFW also provides financial aid programs to help meet educational expenses. To apply, students file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This needs-analysis form, used to determine eligibility for financial aid, is available in Kettler Hall, Room 109, after Jan. 1 each year. Applications received by the first week of March are given priority consideration. For a form or assistance, please call the Financial Aid office at 260-481-6820.

Theatre Scholarships

Scholarships awarded by the Department of Theatre are based upon merit and talent. Criteria for the selection of all scholarship students include academic and professional commitment, discipline, and active participation in departmental productions (either technical or performance assignments.) Unless otherwise noted, scholarships are awarded for the academic year, provided that the criteria of the scholarship have been met. They are disbursed in two equal payments - one for the fall semester and the balance for the spring semester.

Scholarships and awards are allocated each spring semester by the theatre faculty and are part of the annual interview and audition processes of the department. After the initial award is made, continuance is determined annually by the faculty.

Endowed theatre scholarships include the following:

  • Dan Butler Theatre Scholarship
  • O. Franklin Kenworthy Scholarship

Other theatre scholarships include:

  • Theatre Department Scholarship

Theatre majors are also eligible to apply for:

Withers Scholars Grant
In order to be eligible for a Withers Grant, students must major in elementary education, history, political science, English, communication, theatre, or library science. In addition, students must have junior, senior or graduate class standing at IPFW the year of the award, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, be enrolled full time each semester of the award (12-15 credits,) and be a U.S. citizen.
