Requirements

Advising & Registration

All incoming freshman should make an appointment with the chair of the Department of Theatre for their first advising session.  The chair also meets with all incoming freshman during the summer Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR).  The department chair remains the advisor for all freshmen during their first year.

Student Monologues are required at the beginning of each semester for returning theatre majors who are enrolled in nine or more credit hours.  First semester majors are required to observe these auditions but are not required to participate in student monologues until their second semester.

Suggested monologue length is 1-1 ½ minutes.  The monologues will be timed and students will be stopped at two minutes.  All theatre majors are expected to audition for the IPFW Department of Theatre season and are required to accept any role as cast.  At the end of first semester, new full time theatre majors are required to participate in the required round of monologue auditions.

Students are permitted to perform at other venues in the area if time permits and it does not conflict with their academics or participation in departmental productions. Permission is granted after requesting same from the chair of the department.
