From the father of Realism, A Doll’s House is the first contemporary feminist play about a young woman's desire for self-discovery and self-sufficiency. Nora moves from the home of her over-protective father into the arms of a husband who treats her like a play thing; like a delicate porcelain doll. Her feminist awakening occurs when Nora is confronted by her husband's lack of support for her need for individual expression and identity. A Doll's House and Nora's ultimate actions, rocked the social classes of the 1890s.
