Admission
Contact the IPFW Admissions office at 260-481-6812 to apply for admission to the university and to answer any questions you may have concerning admission to the university.
Fine Arts
After official admission to IPFW (contact IPFW Admissions at 260-481-6812), please call the department chair at 260-481-6705 to schedule an advising session. The visual arts degree begins with the one-year foundation sequence, followed by submission of a portfolio for review. When the faculty approve the student’s admission to their area of emphasis, advanced work in a chosen area of concentration can begin.
Music
Students who wish to major in music must gain acceptance into the university through the Office of Admissions at 260-481-6812 and then into the Department of Music. Acceptance into the Department of Music is not automatic upon acceptance by the university. Full acceptance into the department is contingent upon a successful audition, music theory placement exam and an interview. Theatre
Contact IPFW Admissions at 260-481-6812 to apply for admission. Theatre students must satisfy all of IPFW admission standards. In addition, they must maintain a departmental GPA of 2.25 to continue in the program. After official admission to IPFW advising may be arranged by calling the Theatre department chair at 260-481-6551.
The Department of Theatre offers merit scholarships to incoming majors. All freshman and transfer students are eligible for consideration and evaluated by theatre department faculty. Theatre scholarships are awarded by audition for the faculty and are based upon demonstrated talent and theatrical promise. (note: it can read like the faculty is getting the scholarships – “…for the faculty” – instead of the faculty being auditioned to.) Student work-study and other paid positions are also available. Visual Communication and Design
After official admission to IPFW (contact IPFW Admissions at 260-481-6812), advising may be arranged by calling the Visual Communication and Design department chair at 260-481-6709. The bachelor and associate degree programs begin with a sequence of foundation courses. After the sophomore year, students submit a portfolio of selected creative work for review. When the faculty approve the student’s admission to their area of emphasis, advanced work in a chosen area of concentration may begin.
