Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) is a regional campus of two internationally recognized Big Ten schools.  IPFW is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.  It has the broadest scope of programs of all institutions of higher learning in northeastern Indiana, offering more than 175 degree and certificate options.  IPFW has a diverse enrollment of nearly 12,000 students encompassing a broad array of generations, ethnicities, and nationalities.  Through exemplary standards in teaching, research, and service, IPFW reflects Indiana University and Purdue University’s commitments to excellence and lifelong learning.  IPFW provides its students the opportunity for success through its academic diversity, affordability, and flexibility. 

IPFW seeks a Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) who will provide visionary leadership in supporting the College’s continuing mission to be recognized as the center for arts education in northeastern Indiana and beyond.  Required qualifications for the position include an earned terminal degree in a discipline represented in the college and eligibility for the rank of Professor with tenure in one of the four departments (fine arts, music, theatre, or visual communication and design) within the college.  Three to five years of demonstrated successful experience as an administrator in higher education at the department head level or higher is required.  Proven success in fund raising/development is required as well.  Exceptional communication skills are essential as is demonstrated knowledge inregional and national accreditation of arts disciplines.  The successful candidate will be one who has an established reputation for collegiality, high ethical and professional values and respect for shared governance.  We seek an individual who will also foster faculty and programmatic development, further VPA’s progress in the integration of technology into the curriculum, promote interdisciplinary approaches to teaching/learning and continue to cultivate the college’s relationship with the regional arts community.
