Student Successes

Fall 2005

Phyllis Boester, currently completing her music education student-teaching, has joined the staff of the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir as the director of the Choristers Choir.

Jennifer Barnes began work with Linda Wright- Bower in a university-based music therapy internship format.

Kristen Bouwman received the departmental award, 2005 Outstanding Senior in Music Therapy, and completed her internship at the VA Medical Center in Danville, Ill.

Music therapy students Kristen Bouwman, Kelly Lorenz, Diana Parker, Chad Reichert, and Tracy Robbins attended the regional AMTA music therapy conference in Milwaukee.

Trudy Bixler is currently completing her music therapy (MT) internship at Hospice Home and Visiting Nurse; Kelly Lorenz finished her MT internship at Blossomland Learning Center in Berrian Springs, Mo.; and Mareta Spencer has completed her MT internship at Florida State Hospital. Sarah Merchant is scheduled to begin her internship Oct. 1 at Blossomland Learning Center in Berrien Springs, Mo.

University Singers and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, IPFW’s two largest undergraduate music ensembles, have been invited to perform at the 2006 Indiana Music Educators Convention in Indianapolis on July 13, 2006.
