Peggy Farlow is a continuing lecturer in music therapy at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. She is a board certified music therapist with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Education degree, both from Ball State University and a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy degree from IPFW.
Farlow has 10 years of experience as a music therapist in private practice in the Fort Wayne area. She has worked with children and adults with autism, developmental disabilities, and physical and neurological disorders in both individual and group settings. She has provided music therapy treatment in private homes, group homes, public schools, nursing homes, respite care centers and wellness centers. She continues to work with a limited number of clients privately in the Fort Wayne area.
Farlow has given presentations at Regional and National conferences in the United States. She presented at the National Autism Society of America’s (ASA) Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona on the topic: Music Therapy Techniques to Improve Communication Skills in Persons with Autism. She has also given the following presentations: Music Therapy and Behavior Goals at a meeting of the Indiana Association of Behavioral Consultants in Logansport, Indiana; and Reimbursement Survey Results for Music Therapists in Private Practice in Non-Psychiatric Settings at a regional conference of the American Music Therapy Association in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, Prof. Farlow has made presentations regarding music therapy to many support groups, social service agencies, special education educators and health care organizations in the Fort Wayne area.
Farlow is a member of the American Music Therapy Association and Indiana Music Therapists. She is also a member of the Fort Wayne chapter of USA Dance (a national amateur ballroom dance organization) and enjoys ballroom dancing with her husband, Jay.
