Braham Dembar is principal percussionist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. He studied with David Fein at Juilliard Pre-College, and also earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University and a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory. His major teachers include Charles Smith, Thomas Gauger, and Vic Firth, all of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Alan Abel of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Mr. Dembar performs regularly with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and has played with the Blossom Band, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony and Boston Pops, the Handel and Haydn Society, the Opera Company of Boston, the Boston Ballet, and the Boston Concert Opera. He has attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, spent two summers as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, and participated in the Spoleto Festival in Spoleto, Italy. He has recorded with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra on the Telarc label and with Burning River Brass and Hal Leonard Publishing. The conductors he has worked under include Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, Michael Tilson Thomas, John Williams, Leonard Slatkin, Kurt Masur, Paavo Jarvi, Raymond Leppard and Edvard Tchivchel.
