Melanie Bookout received her Masters of Music from Northwestern University and her Ph.D. from Louisiana State University, where her dissertation on the twelve tone music of Anton Webern was recipient of the Arts and Humanities Best Dissertation Award. She studied harpsichord with Dorothy Lane and viola da gamba with Ila Stolzfus, among others. She is a co-founder of Musica Trinitatis, a performer with Eleganza Baroque Ensemble, and she is a member of VdGSA and AMS.
Dr. Bookout is a musicologist whose research interests include the music of the Second Vienna School, the intellectual and artistic trends of the 20th century, the work of John Cage, and postmodern music and poetry, and she is an associate professor of music history at IPFW.
