The Real Group

The Real Group is the real thing! For lovers of a cappella vocal groups like Manhattan Transfer or Pentatonix, audiences will be blown away by the Real Group’s stunning vocals. For three decades, this a cappella group from Sweden has been at the forefront of musical jazz performance. In conjunction with Heartland Sings, IPFW is proud to bring international artists of this caliber to Fort Wayne.

The Real Group Masterclass

Faculty Artist Recital Samuel Savage, tenor

IPFW vocal faculty member and tenor, Sam Savage offers an evening of vocal chamber music along with Ashlee Bickley, mezzo, Briana Sosenheimer, soprano; Mark Stachofsky, baritone; Jonathan Mann, piano; and Hamilton Tescarollo, piano.  Works performed will include Johannes Brahm’s Liebeslieder Walzer, Op. 52 and other chamber works.

Faculty Jazz Combo

The IPFW Faculty Jazz Combo is a unique collective of musicians who bring their own style and a wealth of experience to the group as soloists, bandleaders, and composers. Dr. Ken Johnson, guitar; Jim Steele, piano; Dr. Farrell Vernon, saxophones; Brad Kuhns, bass; and Eric Schweikert, drums, make up this exciting faculty combo. These IPFW professors create original works and arrangements of jazz and pop standards for each concert.

Concert for the Community IPFW Bands

IPFW Wind Festival

This event offers high school and middle school bands the opportunity to experience a non-competitive performance and clinic by renowned instrumental pedagogues from around the United States.  Each ensemble will be provided digital comments and a 30-minute clinic on their concert work immediately following the stage performance.  This event will be valuable as a pre-festival experience or as a substitute for the ISSMA festival.

Saxophone Quartet and Saxophone Choir Recital

The first half of this concert will feature the saxophone quartet. The second half of the concert includes the IPFW Saxophone Choir, which expands the saxophone family by adding the sopranino saxophone as the highest voice and the bass saxophone as the lowest voice. The program features music by Nigel Wood.

Jazz Ensemble featuring IPFW Chamber Singers
