School
of Visual and Performing Arts
Special Credit for VPA Courses
Approved June 3, 1999
Students majoring in a discipline in the School
of Visual and Performing Arts may earn up to 30 special credits toward their
major. Non-majors may be evaluated for special credit at the discretion
of the department. Credit may be established in the following ways:
-
Credit by Examination: Departments may make
some courses available for credit by examination. The examination
will be at least as comprehensive as those given in the course. Students
may select this option at any time during their academic career as long
as they have not received a prior grade (except a W or NC) in the course.
-
Achievement Credit: Departments may accept
credit for nationally administered examinations. Participants in
the International Baccalaureate Program will be awarded 3-8 credits for
each High Level examination passed with a score of 4 or above. Achievement
credit must be established at the time of admission to the department.
-
Department Credit: Departments may grant credit
on the basis of substantially equivalent experience. Department credit
must be established at the time of admission to the department.
To establish special credit for Purdue University
students, a Purdue Registrar Form 390 must be filed for each type of credit
granted. To establish special credit for Indiana University students,
an IPFW Registrar Form 88 must be filed for each type of credit granted.
No charge is made to the student for special credit.
