The Department of Fine Arts is affiliated with the following professional and student organizations:

National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts

The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) exists to promote and improve the ceramic arts through education, research, artistic practice, and flexible programming.  As a non-profit, educational organization, NCECA offers a variation of resources for members, schools, and organizations, including exhibitions, courses, and a variety of publications. National Art Education Association

The National Art Education Association (NAEA) was founded in 1947 in order to promote art education.  NAEA stresses the importance of professional development, service, advancement of knowledge, and leadership and strives to encourage humanistic growth, aesthetic and quality performance in visual art.  With over 22,000 art educators within NAEA, the organization offers lectures and demonstrations by renowned artists such as Christo, Sam Gilliam, Miriam Schapiro, Judy Chicago and Jesus Moroles.  Members are also rewarded with local artists’ workshops, seminars and opportunities to observe art galleries and museums.  Members may also submit slides of their work for exhibition in NAEA’s Electronic Gallery.  For more information visit http://www.naea-reston.org/index.html.

Art Education Association of Indiana

The Art Education Association of Indiana (AEAI) is dedicated to the promotion, advancement and improvement of art education in Indiana.  AEAI endeavors to increase public awareness for the arts, develop strategies for statewide advocacy, inform membership on curren issues and political action, and recognize outstanding performance and programs.  Their goals include uniting, supporting, and encouraging art educators, advocating the importance of art education, providing professional growth for art educators as well as collaborating with the arts and education community.  Members of AEAI serve on task forces and committes, where they make policies that affect the national direction of art education.  Members are also offered opportunities to attend area forums and workshops, lectures, tours, and the National Convention.  For more information visit http://www.aeai.org/.

Southern Graphics Council

The Southern Graphics Council is a nonprofit membership organization endeavoring to advance the professional standing of artists who create prints, drawings, books and hand-made paper. The Council also aims to increase public appreciation of these arts.  Members are invited to attend an annual conference that attracts international participation and encourages discussiion and exchange of both technical and critical information.  The various awards, publications and exhibitions offered by the Council help to promote greater understanding, scholarship and enjoyment of prints, drawings, books, and hand-made paper.  For more information visit http://www.southerngraphics.org/.

Art Students League

Based on campus, the Art Students League (ASL) aims to organize art-related events such as exhibits and open critiques; organize trips, lectures, and artist visits; and to unite art students and promote awareness of the arts within the university and community.  ASL is open to all IPFW students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.  For more information call Student Life at 260 - 481 - 6609
