Student Successes
Spring 2008
Seniors Andrew Lemmon, Patrick Linker,
Hatidza Mulic, and Johanna Rooijakkers shared
the Department of Fine Arts’ Winger Award for
graduating seniors. The award, generously funded
by Jim and Linda Winger, is designed to give highachieving
seniors an opportunity to set up a studio,
travel, or apply for graduate school.
Seniors Patrick Linker and Hatidza Mulic shared the 2006–07 Department of Fine Arts
Outstanding Student Service Award that honors
students who have dedicated themselves to the
success of the department.
Rebecca Bailey, Josh Hoering, Chase Wire,
and Julie Wall had their work displayed at
Artlink’s 27th Annual Print Exhibition,
May 25–July 5, 2007.
Alumnae Jennifer Clements and Abby Murray were hired this spring following their respective
student teaching positions last fall. Clements will be
teaching at Jefferson Middle School in Fort Wayne,
and Murray will be teaching at the St. Joseph–St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Fort Wayne.
Assistant Professor and Director of Art Education Hai Kyung Kim attended the National Art
Education Association conference in New York City
in March 2007 with art education majors Jennifer Clements, Leah Fleetwood, and Chase Wire.
Jennifer Clements, Abby Murray, Angela Grogg, Karen Montoya, and Chase Wire attended the Art Education Association of Indiana
conference in Indianapolis in November 2007.
Clements and Murray presented an adjudicated
lecture, “Sculpting Life-Like Figures” with Hai Kyung
Kim. The lecture was based on a curriculum
sculpture project, “Sculpting a Celebration of
Everyday Life,” which Clements and Murray wrote
and taught to fourth graders last spring in Auburn,
Ind.
