Student Successes
Fall 2005
IPFW Fine Arts and printmaking students Pam Bradshaw and Jarod Isenbarger were accepted into and attended Indiana University’s Printmaking in Venice Overseas Study Program for 2005. Entry into this program is very competitive, and acceptance into the program is primarily based on artwork.
Andrew Lemon has been commissioned by the Antwerp Community Church to design and install“Crown of Thorns,” a sculpture for the reception area of the church. The piece will be a 51⁄2 to 7 foot diameter crown of thorns that will be hung within the church’s lobby. When completed, a centrally suspended light will cast the crown’s shadow onto the lobby walls.
Deborah Miller won Best of Show for her painting “Falling Dishes” in the Fort Wayne Art Guild’s Visions in Creativity exhibition.
Current student Sarah Rayle and B.F.A. alum Peggy Caron (’05) won awards at Tri Kappa Sorority’s 38th Annual Northeast Indiana Area Art Show. Rayle won best-of-show honors for “Chain of Lilys,” and Caron’s “The Cage” and “Twilight” placed first and second, respectively, in the oil or acrylic painting division.
Jason Stopa and Seth Harris (’03) cocurated the exhibition Under 30 for Artlink, Inc. in Fort Wayne in March 2005.
Gwen Schmucker, IPFW’s first art education major through the new Fine Arts program, who is now eligible to student-teach, is currently student teaching at Leo Junior/Senior High School.
