Gary Lanier received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University Bloomington. During that time, Lanier studied voice, ballet, jazz, and modern through Indiana University 's School of Music , African-American Arts Institute, and Bloomington 's Windfall Dancers, as well as performing with the Indiana University Singing Hoosiers, African-American Dance Company, and IU Dance Theatre. Lanier has taught jazz and stage movement for the IPFW Department of Theatre for several years and now teaches jazz for the Fort Wayne Ballet. He works in the Office of the Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at IPFW. His local choreography credits include Chicago at Arena Dinner Theatre; A Gershwin Gala and West Side Story with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic; and Peter Pan, State Fair, The Rocky Horror Show, and Big River at the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre. Lanier is also on the Board of Directors for the Fort Wayne Dance Collective. As a performer, some of his favorite roles include the Emcee in Cabaret, Bobby in Crazy for You, Renfield in Dracula, Zangara in Assassins, and The Cat in the Hat in Seussical.
