|
The Community Arts Academy (CAA) is a division of the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) on the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne campus. Students, pre-K through grade 12, study art, music, theatre, and dance in a positive, supportive environment. Quality teaching is the highest priority of the CAA. The instructors, experts in their arts fields, are comprised of IPFW faculty or outstanding community arts teachers. A few are selected IPFW arts majors who teach under faculty supervision. Most classes and private instruction take place on the IPFW campus during the week or on Saturdays of the spring and fall semesters. A variety of special summer classes and exciting camps are also available. Please peruse this site for class listings and registration information or call the CAA at 481-6059 for additional information and to be placed on our mailing list. Please join us for the best in arts instruction. It all starts here! Maggie Hunter Mission: The IPFW Community Arts Academy offers a wide range of arts instruction in art, music, theatre and dance for students in grades pre-K-12. Taught by professional artists and advanced IPFW university students, classes focus on the artistic process, encouraging culturally enriching opportunities for enjoyment as well as advanced study in the arts. The CAA is recognized as a broad-based arts alternative supplementing traditional school classroom arts instruction. By sharing the same facilities utilized by university students, the program acquaints students and their families to the accessibility and benefits of the university environment. Vision: The IPFW Community Arts Academy will be recognized as a premier provider of process-based arts education for children in northeastern Indiana. With instruction delivered by highly qualified artist/teachers with demonstrated artistic talent, a love for teaching and a commitment to children, students will flourish in a supportive and creative environment. IPFW's arts facilities will be busily engaged seven days a week in classes, performances and exhibitions. CAA programming will be accessible to all students, and scholarships and other special provisions will be provided as needed. A wide variety of arts, educational, social service and youth organizations throughout northeastern Indiana will partner with CAA to ensure all children receive the opportunity to achieve their artistic, social and economic potential. |
