MS in Nursing required.  PhD in Nursing or related field preferred.  University experience preferred but not required. Rank determined by education and experience. Must be eligible for licensure in Indiana, have current clinical competence in community/public health, and a commitment to the scholarship of teaching.

Duties/Special Duties:

Teaching responsibilities in classroom, skills lab, and clinical sites; participation on departmental, school and university committees; advising students, Scholarly work/research and publications.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching and clinical competence.

The Department of Nursing, established in 1964, has a long history of offering National League for Nursing accredited programs. Reflecting the changing healthcare environment, the four-year baccalaureate, R.N. to B. S. completion, and master’s programs offer academically strong, culturally sensitive, information literate, and technology rich curricula. Undergraduate admission occurs twice per year with a total of approximately 400 baccalaureate students. Master’s enrollment of 50 students is increasing rapidly.

Director of Undergraduate Programs in Nursing

Type of appointment:

12 month (teaching and administrative)

Qualifications/Requirements:


Degree Required:

Earned master degree in nursing and doctorate in nursing or related field. Ph.D. candidates considered.

Experience Required or Preferred:
Three years academic experience with strong leadership skills, strong commitment to teaching, and knowledge of trends in nursing education.

Duties:

Administrative duties:
Serve as director of the undergraduate nursing programs, four-year B. S. and R.N. to B. S. programs. Lead curricular design and integration of technologies. Maintain an active research program and fulfill service commitments. Position is 50% administration.

Teaching expectations:
Teach courses in the undergraduate or graduate curriculum. The position is in a comprehensive associate through master’s teaching environment.

Advising responsibilities encompasses students with curricular challenges and evaluation of courses for possible transfer acceptance.

Scholarly endeavor expectations:  
Maintain an active research program and publish in scholarly journals.

Service / Engagement expectations:
Fulfill service commitments to department, school, university and community.
