The 10 month tenure-track appointment begins August 2010 at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Employment is contingent on a satisfactory background records check.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Art Education or Ed.D. B.A. or B.F.A./M.F.A. studio background preferred. At least three years experience as a certified art teacher within K-12 grade span within U.S. school systems required. At least two years teaching experience in art education at the college level required and evidence of developing or established scholarly and professional activities. The candidate must display evidence of appropriate research/creative endeavor and excellence in teaching at the college level.

Duties/Special Duties:

Responsibilities include teaching Methods undergraduate courses to art education majors, academic advising, placing and supervising student teachers, developing and coordinating the Art Education program. Serve on appropriate departmental, school, and university committees, and other assignments as requested.

Description of the Department:

The Department of Fine Arts enrolls approximately 160 majors in curricula leading to the B.A., F.F.A. and B.A. in Art Education degrees. In its seventh year of existence, the B.A. in Art Education program presently has 61 majors. The Department of Fine Arts is a vibrant department of active art professionals housed in a well equipped 18 years old facility. The faculty enjoys collaborative relationships with the Fort Wayne Community Schools, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, numerous galleries, and a variety of other art organizations in a city widely known for its arts community.

Duties:

Primary responsibilities include teaching lower and upper level Art History undergraduate classes.  The appointee will have additional responsibilities including research/publications/creative work, committee work, curriculum development, service to the university and community.

The Department of Fine Arts is a vibrant department of active art professionals housed in a well equipped 18 years old facility.  Art History classes fulfill requirements within all art bachelor degrees in two art departments housing  approximately 450 art majors in the areas of art education, ceramics, computer art, drawing, graphic design, metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.  The Department of Fine Arts offers an Art History minor and has an active study abroad program.  The faculty enjoys collaborative relationships with the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, numerous galleries, and a variety of other art organizations in a city widely known for its arts community.
