Satisfaction with Big Brother Watching in Online Classes Presented by: Dr Katie Klinger, National University |
|
This paper deals with the topic “Is ‘big brother’ watching you as you teach?” At National University, the answer is a resounding “yes”. The online courses in the School of Education are closely monitored to ensure high quality teaching and learning experiences in our intensive one-month-at a-time course forma. The Lead Faculty have permission to step into an online courses at any time to ensure that the professor is interacting with the students and providing high quality feedback on student work. To assist in this quality control assessment, statistical tools track the amount of time the teacher and students spend in the course on a daily basis. Although the content of the course is the same on campus as it is online the “big brother” angle is different. In addition, the University has an internal and external online evaluation forms that students are encouraged to fill out with self assessment and professor assessment questions. |
