Why I am in the Program:

I am currently a union appointed employee assistance coordinator. When I was trying to choose a graduate program I looked into psychology and counseling, as well as sociology. I chose sociology because I feel there is already a lot of research and emphasis on care for the individual. I felt there should be more emphasis on social factors that affect mental health and substance abuse as well as prevention. I also enjoy the wide variety of theories and research that sociology encompasses.
