Greetings! I am Professor in the Department of Sociology, with specializations in social psychology, sociology of deviance, and medical sociology. I am pleased to be part of IPFW Sociology because of its longstanding commitment to students, teaching, and scholarship. Sociology faculty are known for their exceptional teaching and research.

I first became interested in sociology after taking the introductory sociology course, which was a required course to graduate. I found sociology to be quite liberating. The intro course enlightened me about societal injustices as well as the tools to analyze social arrangements and facilitate social change.

My research focuses on eating disorders and physical disabilities, topics that integrate my specialty areas. I am particularly interested in issues related to identity formation and the management of a deviant identity. I am currently studying interpersonal relationships of women with physical disabilities.
