What You Need to Know
Welcome Freshmen!
Welcome to Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. As your high school experience comes to an end, or you have made the decision to pursue additional education after some time away from the classroom, you are no doubt eager to begin and wondering what to expect. Your decision to attend the university tells us that you are someone with dedication and drive to accomplish great things.
University life will be very different from anything you encountered in high school. You will encounter new personal responsibilities regarding the management of time, money, and life in general, leading to a new independence. You will find your courses challenging as your professors will expect you to become an active learner, doing more in the way of preparation than ever before. You will find yourself growing in your ability to read, write, and think critically and analytically.
To help you begin and assist you along the way, you will have an academic advisor or advising office. When you come for summer orientation (SOAR), you will meet with this advisor to discuss your plans, learn about your intended major (if you have chosen one), and register for fall classes.
This web site is meant to acquaint you with the orientation program in which you will be participating and the process of schedule planning. Familiarizing yourself with this information will expedite your smooth transition.
We look forward to meeting with you!
