Before You Begin

Install Java

Windows XP

Before the first time you access Banner, you will need to install Java, an Internet plug-in needed to run Banner 7 (Internet Native Banner). This plug-in will need to be installed on each computer that is used to access Banner. To install:

  1. Go to http://www.java.com
  2. Click "Free Java Download" at the top of the screen (green
    rectangular button)
  3. You may be prompted to allow the Active X Control to run (a
    cream colored bar that appears just underneath the
    URL of the page). If you are prompted for this, click
    the cream colored bar and select "Install ActiveX Control".
    Otherwise, click Install when asked if you want to
    install this software.
  4. Click Accept
  5. Uncheck the box to install the Google Toolbar and click Next
  6. Click Finish

If you do not have Java installed and try to access Banner 7, you will most likely see a blank screen when you try to access it.

Macintosh OS X (10.3 and higher)

If you are using a Mac, you will need to use at least Java 1.4.2_11 which is included in Java for Mac OS x 10.3 Update 5. Both are available at http://developer.apple.com/java/download/
