Developmental Studies Subcommittee minutes

Zelimir Todorovic was elected president.  The representative from English continues to be Karol Dehr.  She had agreed to take minutes in the future.

There continues to be a question on whether the committee should continue since the only developmental classes left on campus are two math courses.  English has moved to a one or two semester writing course option for students to replace the developmental Eng W130, and a learning community with COAS W111 to replace English R150.  The committee is following up on a letter to Dr. McKinney for his advice and recommendation. 

The committee also wonders if the scope of the committee is too narrow.  Should the committee look at the transition from high school to college as a developmental process on its own? Should they make recommendations to the Educational Policy Committee regarding transition issues as well as for policies and goals for the Center for Academic Support and Advancement?

Dr. Todorovic will be arranging future meetings.
