The meeting was called to order at 9:30 AM.

Members of the committee introduced themselves.
|

David Lindquist was elected as chairperson of the committee for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Patrick McLaughlin, IPFW registrar, described the formula for developing the campus calendar and discussed particulars of the calendar being proposed for the 2011-2012 academic year.

James Moore noted that he had printed monthly calendars for the 2011-2012 academic year, and stated that the proposed dates were correct according to the calendar formula.

James Moore moved that the calendar for the 2011-2012 academic year be accepted as proposed. Stella Batagiannis seconded the motion, which was passed unanimously.

Patrick McLaughlin noted that several revisions were made to the calendar formula several years ago in order to ensure that every day of the calendar year was listed as part of an academic semester (e.g., Fall, Spring, Summer I, or Summer II). This was done in order to guarantee that students taking courses during special terms (i.e., the December/ January winter session) would be eligible for financial aid.

Patrick McLaughlin asked if any committee members had any questions or concerns about the calendar formula. James Moore noted that he had proposed some revisions several years ago, adding that these proposals were not enacted. The sense of the committee was that there was no need to poll the general faculty regarding any possible issues or concerns with the calendar formula.

Patrick McLaughlin thanked the committee members for their work on the 2011-2012 calendar.

George Mourad moved that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Carrie Fox, and the meeting was adjourned at 9:50 AM. |
