Subcommittee Minutes January 9, 2007
The
meeting was called to order by Katie Willock, Chair.
Old
Business
Steve Sarratore distributed copies of the amended bylaws of the
Faculty Senate regarding the Graduate Subcommittee. They were passed by the Faculty Senate at the
December meeting. The amended bylaws will take effect with the beginning of the
2007-2008 academic year.
Steve Sarratore also distributed the requirements for graduate
faculty status for both IU and Purdue. At the next meeting, the committee will
discuss the requirements for graduate faculty status at IPFW and if we will
decide to require our own.
New
Business
The
proposal for the Graduate Certificate in OLS was reviewed. Feedback received
from Deans, Division Directors and Department Chairs was reported by Steve Sarratore to be positive. After discussion, the proposal
was unanimously approved by the committee.
The
proposal for the Master of Science with a Major in Nursing
proposal was reviewed. Feedback received from Deans, Division Directors and
Department Chairs was reported by Steve Sarratore to
be positive. After discussion, the proposal was unanimously approved by the
committee.
The
Faculty Senate will be notified of the committee’s approval of these proposals.
The
meeting was adjourned.
At the
next meeting to be called in February, a pending proposal will be reviewed and
the requirements for graduate faculty status at IPFW will be discussed.

Willock was elected chair of the committee.
Steve Sarratore discussed the current graduate programs under
development.
The
potential for developing criteria for graduate faculty status on this campus
was discussed. Purdue graduate faculty orientation will potentially be
held October 24. Steve Sarratore will finalize the
date this week.
Next
meeting will be scheduled following the graduate faculty orientation.
