FACULTY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
8-29-00
Members present: H. Abu-Mulaweh, E. Blakemore, B. Fife, S. Hannah, D. Oberstar, Y. Zubovic
Members absent: W. Skoog
- The first order of business was the election of a chair. In a hotly contested and lively tussle for the position, a mirror image of last year's titanic struggle, the hard-hitting style of David Oberstar resulted in his unanimous election by the narrowest of margins.
- W. Skoog resigned from the committee prior to this first meeting, so the second task was to choose a replacement. Working from the list of faculty who were on the ballot last spring but had not been elected, Sally Hartman from the School of Health Sciences was chosen and will be contacted by the chair.
- Vice Chancellor Hannah presented the committee with a list of possible agenda items. The membership decided to make faculty overload policy the first item of business. The chair will ask the VC to gather some statistical information in preparation for the discussion of this topic.
