Educational Policy Committee
Minutes of August 31, 2000
Present: L. DeFonso, M. Downs, S. Hannah, L. Hite,
D. Oberstar, R. Sedlmeyer
Absent: K. Browne
-
The meeting was convened by L. DeFonso, who, after some discussion, agreed
to chair the committee.
-
The need for a replacement member, due to the resignation of Nancy McCroskey,
was discussed. It was agreed to solicit self-nominations of interested
parties and vote on the new member before the next meeting.
-
S. Hannah brought up several agenda items for future meetings:
-
The community college issue. There are ongoing discussions with various
concerned parties, the particulars of which will be forthcoming.
-
The associate degree in Human Services will be eliminated. Is there anything
that this committee needs to do when a program is eliminated? This may
not be required if faculty jobs are not affected. (The degree will be replaced
with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services.) This will be investigated
further.
-
The Rules and Agenda committees will be looking at the Senate subcommittee
structure. Recommendations regarding consolidation and possible elimination
of some committees will be forthcoming.
-
L. DeFonso reported that the Calendar Subcommittee will be polling the
faculty regarding potential changes to the calendar, and that information
will be forwarded to EPC.
-
The next meeting was set for Thursday, September 14 at 3:00 PM in KT 178.
Respectfully submitted,
Lenore E. DeFonso, Chair
