Educational Policy Committee
Minutes of August 31, 2000

Present: L. DeFonso, M. Downs, S. Hannah, L. Hite, D. Oberstar, R. Sedlmeyer
Absent: K. Browne

  1. The meeting was convened by L. DeFonso, who, after some discussion, agreed to chair the committee.
  2. The need for a replacement member, due to the resignation of Nancy McCroskey, was discussed. It was agreed to solicit self-nominations of interested parties and vote on the new member before the next meeting.
  3. S. Hannah brought up several agenda items for future meetings:
    1. The community college issue. There are ongoing discussions with various concerned parties, the particulars of which will be forthcoming.
    2. The associate degree in Human Services will be eliminated. Is there anything that this committee needs to do when a program is eliminated? This may not be required if faculty jobs are not affected. (The degree will be replaced with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services.) This will be investigated further.
    3. The Rules and Agenda committees will be looking at the Senate subcommittee structure. Recommendations regarding consolidation and possible elimination of some committees will be forthcoming.
  1. L. DeFonso reported that the Calendar Subcommittee will be polling the faculty regarding potential changes to the calendar, and that information will be forwarded to EPC.
  2. The next meeting was set for Thursday, September 14 at 3:00 PM in KT 178.
Respectfully submitted,

Lenore E. DeFonso, Chair
