BUSINESS:

    1. Noted and discussed the return by URPC of BAS’s resolution concerning lectureships and possible change to NCAA Division I status. During the interim, VC Hannah had communicated to BAS that she desired to discuss the lectureships issue with BAS. It was agreed to invite VC Hannah to a meeting ASAP. (Meeting subsequently scheduled for March 15.)
    2. Discussed the 00-01 budget, especially with respect to the proposed three percent wage/salary increment. Decided to forward the following question to VC Branson:

    3. With respect to the 2000 budget, BAS understands that it doesn't make a lot of sense to try to associate specific increases in line items with specific decreases in other line items. However, just to make sure our logic is correct, we do have a couple additional questions with respect to the projected increase in medical insurance costs. Should not the shortfall be 18%--22% minus the 4% budgeted; and isn't the projected increase in medical insurance less for the IU faculty on campus. If so, wouldn't this decrease the shortfall modestly; and if so, by how much?

    4. Discussed the possible request by IPFW to move to Division I status. Decided to forward the following question to VC Branson:
BAS is concerned about potential longer run issues associated with a movement to NCAA Division I status. By longer run, we are thinking about 3-7 years. Can you enlighten us (with planning documents or via a briefing) as to projected annual costs of maintaining Division I status and the projected sources of revenue with some specificity? 4. Directed chair to request from VC Branson a breakout of the student fee as of 99-00. CLOSING:
