SUBJECT: Projected Move of OLS
DISPOSITION: To the Presiding Officer for Implementation
WHEREAS, the Department of Organizational Leadership & Supervision supports in principle AACSB accreditation for IPFW=s School of Business and Management Sciences; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Organizational Leadership & Supervision has made multiple concessions to promote the cause of AACSB accreditation for SBMS that have resulted in program loss, enrollment loss, and mandated course restrictions; and
WHEREAS, it remains unclear whether moving OLS out of SBMS is necessary or sufficient to address AACSB concerns; and
WHEREAS, OLS should remain a strong and viable program offering both associate and bachelor=s degrees to IPFW students; and
WHEREAS, there are approximately 500 students pursing associate=s and bachelor degrees in Organizational Leadership and Supervision; and
WHEREAS, the draft memo of Understanding Regarding the Projected Move of OLS to ETCS does not address the impact of this move on students, graduates, and faculty members; and
WHEREAS, OLS=s formal request to have a team of faculty involved in discussions regarding any move was denied in writing by the administration,
BE IT RESOLVED, that any potential move of the Department of Organizational Leadership & Supervision be made in consultation with Faculty Senate and representatives of the OLS faculty and students, and that any decision made regarding the placement and reporting of OLS shall preserve the integrity of the program including opportunities for faculty and program development, degrees offered, and resources.
