DISPOSITION:Upon approval, to the Chancellor for transmittal to the Foellinger Foundation
WHEREAS, the Foellinger Foundation, Inc., has provided a gift of $3 million to IPFW for the construction of a theatre, and
WHEREAS, this gift will have a great and lasting effect on the future of this campus,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the accompanying letter be forwarded
from the faculty of IPFW to the Foellinger Foundation as a small measure
of our thanks and appreciation for their gift.

Dear Mr. Rolfsen:
On behalf of the Faculty, the Senate offers its thanks and appreciation for the Foellinger Foundation's recent pledge, which will result in the construction of a theatre at this university.
The facility will enable students in the School of Fine and Performing Arts, particularly our award-winning Department of Theatre, to acquire a wider range of techniques and styles, and to demonstrate them to the Fort Wayne public. We believe that it will make a significant addition to the cultural life of our community, and we see the Foundation's gift as a contribution to both higher education and to the people of Allen County.
The people and institutions of Fort Wayne have been effective forces for the development of higher educational and cultural offerings through this campus. We thank you for this commitment--both as an expression of the Foundation's confidence, and also as a substantial investment in our shared future. We believe that the investment is based on the same values as those Miss Foellinger herself supported; we offer our assurance that the stewardship of the facility will be such as to honor her memory and to justify the decision of the Foundation.
