SUBJECT:Review of IPFW's relationships to Indiana University
and Purdue University
DISPOSITION:Upon approval, to the Nominations and Elections
Committee for implementation
Whereas, The university's relationships to Indiana University
and to Purdue University produce some consequences which are beneficial
and some which are not; and
Whereas, A review of these relationships by the Faculty, through
its Senate, holds promise of improving the university's ability to fulfill
its missions; and
Whereas, Such a review would involve considerable work in areas
which transcend the duties of individual standing committees of the Senate;
Resolved, that the Senate instruct its Nominations and Elections
Committee to bring forward at its next regular meeting a slate of candidates
to serve on an Ad-hoc Committee to Review IPFW's Relationships to Indiana
University and Purdue University, subject to the following provisions:
Membership
The committee shall consist of seven Senators, including at least three
of each university affiliation, elected by the Senate by single transferable
ballot.
The committee chair shall be elected by the committee at its first meeting.
The committee may establish subcommittees which include individuals who
are not Senators.
Charge
The committee shall examine and report to the Senate on all aspects
of the university's relationships with Indiana University and Purdue University,
including:
Selection, attraction, and retention of students, faculty, and administrators
Academic and nonacademic program development
Employee compensation and benefit programs
Fiscal and funding policies and procedures
Academic transferability
Flexibility in meeting regional needs
Governance
Physical development.
In developing its report to the Senate, the committee shall seek information
from a wide range of sources inside and outside the universities. The committee's
report should identify any aspects of the relationships to Indiana University
and Purdue University which should be modified to encourage IPFW's fulfillment
of its missions.
