Resolved, That the position of Faculty Representative be authorized as defined below.

I. METHOD AND TERM OF APPOINTMENT

A.The Faculty Representative shall be a faculty member with at least a 0.5 FTE teaching assignment and shall be appointed by the Chancellor from a list of nominees submitted by the Subcommittee on Athletics.

B.The Faculty Representative shall be appointed for a five-year, renewable term.

A.The Faculty Representative shall represent the Chancellor and the university to the NCAA and the conference.

B.The Faculty Representative shall attend the required and appropriate meetings of the NCAA and the conference.

C.The Faculty Representative shall serve as an ex-officio, voting member of the Subcommittee on Athletics.

D.The Faculty Representative shall serve as the chair of the Subcommittee on Eligibility.

E.The Faculty Representative shall assist in interpreting and enforcing university, conference, and NCAA regulations.

F.The Faculty Representative shall promote understanding of sports and their relationship to the educational and ethical commitments of the institution.

G.The Faculty Representative shall make an annual written report to the Senate on his/her activities and on any problem areas that need attention.
