-
FROM Subcommittee on Athletics
-
SUBJECT- Women's soccer
-
DATE: October 23, 1995
DISPOSITION: To the Presiding Officer for implementation
WHEREAS:
-
The GLVC has expanded to eleven institutions and may expand to twelve next
year, and
-
Eight of the eleven currently have women's soccer as a varsity sport, and
-
Two of the other three have plans to start this sport in the next year
or two, and
-
The IPFW Athletic Strategic Plan of two years ago called for this sport
to be our next varsity endeavor, and
-
The GLVC will most likely add women's soccer to the conference sports by
the beginning of the 1996 year, and
-
Gender equity issues continue to be a strong consideration for all Division
I and II institutions, and
-
Girl's soccer is a strong sport in Indiana, especially in the IPFW service
region, which should allow for good recruiting.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
-
Planning be instituted that will allow IPFW to add the varsity sport of
women's soccer, and
-
Women's soccer should be ready for its inaugural season with the start
of the 1997-98 academic year at the latest, and
-
IPFW will have this as one of its GLVC sports.
