WHEREAS, IPFW athletics continues to receive an increasing level of support from the Fort Wayne community and the IPFW student body and

WHEREAS, IPFW athletics has demonstrated the commitment to perform at a high level of competitiveness in both men's and women's sports and

WHEREAS, Athletics can serve as a significant gateway through which the community interacts with the University and

WHEREAS, the Fort Wayne region is poised to both support and benefit from the economic impact of Division I athletics and

WHEREAS, all reasonable efforts should be made to ensure the long-term success of the athletic program and its funding and

WHEREAS, the stability of our athletic program is essential to the good of IPFW and

WHEREAS, the continuity and stability of funding is essential to the IPFW athletic program;

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Fort Wayne Senate recommends that IPFW continue to develop a plan (e.g. scholarships, operating budget, staffing) to be submitted to the Budgetary Affairs Subcommittee for comment; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the plan, along with the Budgetary Affairs Subcommittee comments, be made available to all faculty prior to further Senate consideration of this issue.
