the Nominations and Elections Committee for approval by the faculty.

WHEREAS, A change in the definition of Voting Faculty
in 1988 inadvertently disenfranchised some faculty pursuing graduate degrees;
and
WHEREAS, The authority to award graduate degrees is vested in the
parent campus rather than in the Voting Faculty of IPFW; and
WHEREAS, Academic control of the content of graduate degrees is vested
in the parent campus rather than in the Voting Faculty of IPFW;
RESOLVED, That the Constitution of the Faculty be amended as follows:
Current
I. C. The Voting Faculty shall consist of those full-time members
of the Faculty who are not enrolled in a degree program at IPFW and who:
-
Hold appointments in academic units subject to those powers of the Fort
Wayne Faculty detailed in Section VI, below, and perform duties at least
half of which consists of teaching or other creative/scholarly work; or
-
Hold the rank of librarian or associate, assistant, or affiliate librarian.
Proposed
I. C. The Voting Faculty shall consist of those full-time members
of the Faculty who are not enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
at IPFW nor in a graduate degree program in their home department and who:

Hold appointments in academic units subject to those powers of the Fort
Wayne Faculty detailed in Section VI, below, and perform duties at least
half of which consists of teaching or other creative/scholarly work; or
-
Hold the rank of librarian or associate, assistant, or affiliate librarian.
