Senate Reference No. 03-7
TO: Fort Wayne Senate
FROM: Executive Committee
DATE:
SUBJ: Mandatory Screen Saver Policy
DISPOSITION: For information only
The Executive Committee met on
We would like the Academic Computing and Information Technology Advisory Subcommittee to investigate the rationale of Information Technology Services mandating a screen saver for all faculty computers. We also have the following questions:
1. Is IPFW the only campus in the Indiana University/Purdue University system where this is required?
2. Is it appropriate for Information Technology Services to mandate screen savers on computers which reside in private faculty offices, and which are not publicly accessible?
3. Could Information Technology Services limit the universal mandate?
We are asking that the Academic Computing and Information Technology Advisory Subcommittee report to the Senate regarding these concerns by the January 2004 Senate meeting.
