SUBJ: Student Advising on IPFW Campus

The Executive Committee met on October 24, 2003 and approved the following request to the Educational Policy Committee regarding student advising on IPFW’s campus. We are bringing these concerns to the attention of the Senate for information only.

In light of the online registration which now takes place, often without advisor approval, the Executive Committee would ask that the Educational Policy Committee investigate the nature of student advising on campus; in particular, the following:

1. The propensity for differences between faculty advising and professional advising

2. Student contact with advisors

We are asking that the Educational Policy Committee report to the Senate regarding these concerns by the March 2004 Senate meeting.
