A
motion to add 2 faculty members to the subcommittee to bring it into compliance
with SD 02-11 (recently adopted by the Senate) passed unanimously.

The
committee reviewed the athletic schedules for 2003-04 as constituted at this
point. Some are still tentative and
men's volleyball is yet to be done, pending the gathering of MIVA coaches in
early May. The schedules were approved
by a unanimous vote.

Mark Pope gave a brief explanation of the rationale for dropping men's indoor
and outdoor track and field, which rationale turned on the question of gender
equity. He also indicated that there are
discussions in progress exploring the initiation of men's and women's golf as
varsity sports.

motion to endorse the continued exploration of the possibility of establishing
men's and women's golf as varsity sports was unanimously approved.
