Student Affairs Committee Minutes

Meeting October 21, 2002

The Student Affairs Committee of the Senate met on October 21, 2002.  Linda Fox, Chair, indicated that the committee would be receiving from SCOA, sometime in the near future, a document being drafted on an alcohol and drug policy for student athletes.  Today’s business was to discuss the proposed code changes in the IPFW Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct forwarded to this committee for action by Donna Bialik, Dean of Students; Jeanette Clausen, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Chairperson of the 2001-2002 Campus Appeals Board; and Lenore De Fonso, Assistant Professor of Psychology and a Member of the Campus Appeals Board and Grade Appeals Committee.

The three above-named individuals of the task force which undertook these revisions were invited to speak. Discussion followed and a vote was taken, which passed, unanimously, to recommend approval of these amendments to Senate Document 89-28 and to forward to the Fort Wayne Senate for action.

Introductions were made, as this was the first meeting of the academic year with a student representative present. Shannon Byrne was invited to bring any student concerns to this committee, along with the other student representative, Holly Lara.  The meeting was adjourned until further business is forwarded to this committee.
