MEMORANDUM

TO:                  Fort Wayne Senate

SUBJ:              Nature of increment funds

                        (Substitute motion to SD 06-5)

DISPOSITION:  To the Presiding Officer for implementation

WHEREAS, the Faculty Senate has a legitimate interest in salary, policy, development, and administration; and,

WHEREAS, the administration has been reporting to the Senate in response to individual questions on salary, policy, and implementation;

BE IT RESOLVED, That the Executive Committee annually prepare appropriate questions for the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the September Senate meeting regarding the nature of the distribution of increment funds administered by the central administration. 

Recommit instructions to Executive Committee:

1) Timetable:  Instead of September meeting, make report at October meeting. 

2) Process:  Formal process should be specified in terms of inviting faculty to provide input.

3) Association:  There should be formal linkage of conversations in spring between the VCAA and committee representing the faculty in those conversations (currently the Faculty Affairs Committee) and the questions that are brought forward in the fall. 

4) Venue:  Executive Committee should determine best venue to bring annual questions forward.
